Day 15 - Rest Day in Pamplona
13th April 2018
We had planned to cycle into Pamplona along the river but a lady at the campsite said the river may be flooded in places so it was a bus trip instead. It is quite a big sprawling city but with a many balconied, compact old town. We spent some time tracing the path of the bull run through the cobbled streets. For centuries the bulls have been released from their enclosure and herded through town to the bull ring. Men have always run in front of the bulls but, some years ago, the authorities got fed up with the deaths and injuries so tried to put a stop to it all. This was completely ignored so the authorities decided to incorporate it into a week long festival. All very interesting and totally barmy.

It was a very pleasant place to wander in unfamiliar sunshine and the experience was no worse for the absence of bulls.
I'm enjoying your blog and tracking your progress, it look like a great adventure
