Day18 - Spring has arrived!

17th April 2018

After a very soggy, wet and muddy day yesterday, following a misty cool start, today could not have been more different.  Cloudless sky and temperature reaching 26 degrees.

Ivan was safely moved from his waterlogged mud and grass ptich by his expert driver who later inadvertently took him into a car park which required a 19 point turn to exit.

The first part of the ride was an absolute joy through the foothills of the Pyrenees with flower filled meadows, bell clanking sheep, rustic buildings and the snowy high mountains in the background..

Half way through the ride there was an abrupt transition to flat riding through heath and pines all the way to Morcenx.

We are now at a beautiful campsite which we seem to have all to ourselves.

  1. Glad to see you are making good progress an amazing trip lets hope the sun shines on you the rest of the way. Really nice to have the support from Mrs B, I hope she is feeling better now. I must take some inspiration from your trip and cycle to the Isle of Lewis to see my sister :)

Best of luck and I hope all goes well :)

  2. Welcome to France M & J.

Happy to see everything goes quite well for you except Jackie's problem with the baguette (but you know a French baguette has to be earned).

A bit disappointed about your path throughout the Pyrenees Martin, I thought you were more brave to face higher mountains beyond 1500m (hihi).

Wish you good luck for the next steps with I suppose wine tasting coming soon along your next stops in France.

    1. Thank you Tom. Of course I would have loved to cycle over the Tourmalet but didn't fancy cycling through 2 metres of snow!! Well that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it. Currently close to Monbazillac so guess what we are drinking!
