3 Rivers and a Milestone
23rd April 2018
More undulating riding today past big fields and small villages heading towards the River Loire. Tufa stone buildings indicated that I was getting close. The lovely Indre was crossed first followed by the Cher and finally it was down into Amboise with it's spectacular Chateau Royal and many arched bridge crossing the Loire. Our campsite for tonight is on the Ile D'Or in the middle of the river, accessed from the bridge. Very pleasant it is too. This will be our third visit to Amboise so we know exactly where to go for cocktails!

We have now travelled 1275 miles from Tarifa so are over one quarter of the way. We will be celebrating tonight!
Beautiful area. My dad lives north of the Loire, but NW of Tours, so not on your route unfortunately. No mention of the bike yet, that I've seen, so assume she's rolling smoothly!
ReplyDeleteAh yes, I remember you telling me about your Dad's place which sounds lovely.
DeleteThe bike has been absolutely fine (perhaps I shouldn't say too much). I did use my gravel bike for one day in Spain, it started to squeak quite badly and I narrowed it down to the rear wheel. I was cursing myself for not bringing a hub bearing cassette but then discovered the derailleur cable end resting against the tyre! All fine after that was bent back into place.
