Day 34 - Rest day and planning the next four days

3rd May 2018

Today has been a very relaxing day spent bike fettling, reading, swimming (!) and onward route planning.  Whilst I was busy removing 3 days worth of crud from my bike Jacqui went off exploring the locality on her bike.

We only have a broad outline of our route to Nordkapp and make more precise plans as we go along.  Sometimes there are obvious places ahead that we would like to visit but, on other occassions, it is a matter of locating a campsite or campervan park in the general direction of travel at a suitable distance away.  Google is very helpful when locating campsites but we also use a couple of camperstop apps.  Germany doesn't allow Google Street View for privacy reasons.  This is a bit of a shame since I like to use it to check certain roads to see if they are suitable for cycling.  It also sometimes helps to identify local landmarks when navigating to a site.

Tomorrow we are headed for Germany and should reach the Elbe ferry crossing in 2 days time.  It is then another day in Germany heading north towards Denmark.  We then plan to head up the west coast of Jutland, reaching Ribe (Denmark's oldest town) on Monday.  We will then have a rest day for a wander around the town.
