Day 53 - Rondane National Tourist Route

22nd May 2018

The first part of our route today continued to take us along the RV27 road which we had enjoyed so much yesterday.  This road is actually one of 18 Norwegian "National Tourist Routes" and passes through the Rondane Mountain region.  Harald Sohlberg was a Norwegian artist who spent several years in the area working on his painting "Winter Night in the Mountains".  A wonderfully designed viewing area now sits on the site of his vantage point.  We weren't there at night but on a beautiful, sunny morning.

Five miles further on there was another viewing platform

We followed the virtually empty road to it's end 25 miles on.  Magnificent all the way.

The remainder of the route was just standard Norway loveliness!

Looking at our route ahead we hope to be travelling on more of these beautiful routes.
