Day 23 - A nice way to end a hot ride

22nd April 2018

Another warm, sunny ride today through the ruraliest rural France.  Big undulations gave way to smaller ones.  The only downside of the ride was my Twix bars melting into a warm syrup.

We had planned to end the day at Poitiers but a quick look at campsite options showed a nice looking site at a town called Chauvigny.  The site got good reviews and Chauvigny looked interesting so here we are.  As it happens, the campsite is lovely, very leafy, lots of bird song and overlooked by the medieval fortresses, ramparts and church of the old city of Chauvigny (now surrounded by a modern but pleasant town).  We had a very enjoyable walk around the ancient buildings and the various artisan craft shops and galleries.

    1. Helen, a bar is a given, goes without saying. However, there was a time when the only beer you could get in France was Kronenburg. Now, on a hot parched day, you can't get Kronenburg for love nor money. Much as I like Belgium beers today was a day for ice cold lager. Never mind, the Leffe blonde was ok.

In Norway I shall be la la ing Grieg and definitely not blummin A-ha

  3. Hi to you both. We initially lost the blog address and then have been internet free for five days. However, if this gets through we will be able to say that posting a comment has not been a problem!!!. We are mightily impressed with everything that Mrs Bradley is coping with so she and Ivan are clearly the stars of the show. The bloke who does a bit of pedalling is also doing ok!!! We just felt sorry for the baguette.

Seriously it looks inspiring, so we will be inspired...... to keep reading the blogg!

Birthday congratulations to Mrs B for tomorrow. Rest day?

    1. Thank you John, the tour manager certainly has been the star of the show to date. Even better, the two of us are still on very amicable terms. A rest day in Chartres on Wednesday for the birthday girl.
